Welcome to We Learn Kanji. I hope this site and its resources can be useful to those wishing to learn Japanese Kanji.
I have broken up the 2036 jōyō kanji into weekly study guides to help guide your study. Each week contains 40 kanji. My suggestion is to use the list, trying to study 8 new kanji a day, 5 days a week. There are 54 weekly guides that contain the entire 2036 jōyō kanji.
I have also provided resources to study by JLPT level. This is not a perfect system as there is no published list of required kanji per JLPT level, but this grouping seems to be the most commonly used on the internet and in reference books.
You can also see the kanji split up into Japanese school grades, known as Kyōiku kanji which can be helpful if you are using Japanese resources geared toward the Japanese education system.
All versions of study, the JLPT level system, the Japanese school grade system, and my own weekly system contain the same 2036 kanji, split up in different groupings. Feel free to follow whatever system you feel will benefit you most.
I have also created a study tool to provide you with a random group of kanji based on all of the levels you have already learned to help test your knowledge.
Finally, I have created a PDF file of all of the weekly guides that can be used as-is, printed out, or on an electronic reader.
Feel free to reach out to let me know how else we can improve this site or how you are using it.
All the best!
